Mobilize Prayer Support for Bishops and Priests
Under the Banner of Mary Help of Christians
|
"If
you have devotion to Mary Help of Christians,
you will see what miracles are."
St. John Bosco
|
Under
the banner of Mary Help of Christians - Banner
of Hope - this vital lay initiative began spontaneously
in the days before Pentecost, the Feast of Mary Help of
Christians (May 24th), and the canonization of Padre Pio,
(June 14, 2002), the spiritual father of this work of
intercession. The Holy Spirit, Mary and Priesthood are
at the heart of this undertaking.
Mary's
Eucharistic Intercessors
|
Mary's
Eucharistic Intercessors are laity, clergy and religious
committed to intercession for bishops and priests. Whether
in parishes or at home, their goal is to form a worldwide
spiritual community of faith-filled intercessors committed
to upholding the ministerial priesthood through prayer
and penance.
We are at a critical juncture; Mary invites us to pray
with her as she prayed with the Apostles and the brethren
in the cenacle. It is a time of visitation, a time of
invitation, a time of graces and mercy.
|
Mary Help of Christians
Mary
was with the Church in the Cenacle, praying with the Apostles
and brethren, supporting them as a Mother on that first
Pentecost. She is with the Church today in its time of
suffering, praying with us and supporting us in our hour
of need. We embrace her in our struggles, call on her
as Help of Christians, and honor her as Mother of God
and Mother of the Church.
Mary
and The Eucharist,
"The Two Pillars"
|
The
prophetic dream of St. John Bosco describes two solid
columns soaring high into the sky in the midst of a great
ocean of turbulence. "One is surmounted by a statue
of the Immaculate Virgin at whose feet a large inscription
reads: Help of Christians; the other, far loftier
and sturdier, supports a Host of proportionate size and
bears beneath it the inscription: Salvation of believers."
He speaks of the Pope steering the ship safely through
the two columns and mooring it to them.
In these times when some have been tempted to abandon
the faith, or have faltered in the midst of turmoil and
strife, or failed to implore God's mercy and forgiveness,
we recall this dramatic message to focus on Mary and the
Eucharist.

The
Weapon of the Rosary
"It is no exaggeration to say that it is due chiefly
to her leadership and help that the wisdom and teachings
of the Gospel spread so rapidly to all nations of the world,
in spite of the most obstinate difficulties and most cruel
persecutions, and brought everywhere in their train a new
reign of justice and peace.
This
it was that stirred the soul of St. Cyril of Alexandria
to the following prayerful address to the Virgin Mary:
'Through
you the Apostles have preached salvation to the nations
through you the priceless Cross is everywhere honored and
venerated;
through you the demons have been put to rout and mankind
has been
summoned back to Heaven;
through you every misguided creature held in the thrall
of idols is led to
recognize the truth;
through you have the faithful been brought to the laver
of holy Baptism and
churches been founded among every people'"
(St. Cyril of Alexandria, Homil. contra Nestor).
Excerpted
from Pope Leo XIII's encyclical letter on The Rosary, Audiutricem,
5 September 1895.
